Take
Time for Butterfly Thoughts

With our
spirits anchored and heavy -
we sit
stunned by the daily news;
envying unruffled butterflies
flitting
past on a breeze, amused.

Ethereal beings quite delicate,
bright wings
could not lift them in flight
if burdened
by human media
spewing
fury, hatred and fright.

It’s no
wonder that peace eludes us,
with only
man’s worst traits displayed;
confined in
cocoons of fear’s despair
we partake
in their masquerade.

Serenity can
be discovered -
if butterfly
thoughts you impart;
listen to
music, turn off the TV,
invite
harmony into heart.
This shall
not our soldiers imperil,
nor question
your deep gratitude;
regaining
strength to welcome them home
requires
personal fortitude.

Light spirit
can soar with butterflies,
reclaim now
your own inner peace;
Your hope
can ricochet round the world,
but you will
only find
if you seek.
